HIV Medical Care
How do I find a good doctor, dentist or counselor?
Most of the professionals and service providers listed elsewhere in this website can give you the names of local doctors, dentists and counselors who have provided good care to people they know. There are also HIV doctors and research facilities available in Akron, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Contact one of the AIDS service agencies if you need help finding medical care.
How do I pay for medical care and for those expensive drugs to treat HIV?
If you don’t have insurance to cover your medical costs, there are programs that can help, such as Medicaid, Ryan White emergency funds and the Ohio HIV Drug Assistance Program (called OHDAP). Any of the AIDS service agencies can give you information about these programs, but you should also call the local Ryan White case managers. It is part of their job to help you get enrolled in programs that can help you pay your medical bills. Click here for more information.
